Ah bin watchin Pres Trump say sum ridiculous thangs over the last 4 years or so, an, IMO, one of the most ridiculous is his attack on science an medical experts, especially when they don’t agree wit him! An then ah saw this old video: (Ugh!)

Now, ah’m not gonna try writin a bunch bout how scientists an doctors an researchers an other scientifical folk have changed our lives fur the better. Thar’re tons of stuff like that on the InterTubes already.

Whut ah’m gonna do is take a differnt tack. Ah’m gonna act like sumone who dun really thunk that them folk are not only STOOPID, but also that they be DANGEROUS too!

Y’see ah have a problem. Mah car ain’t runnin right. And ah don’t think that them car mechanical folk at the dealership an such really know whut they’re doin. BUT ah got me this har friend who’s always talkin bout cars an how the manufacturer’s are tryin to rip their customers off an such.

Ah KNOW he dun stand by his car, he dun drive it, he got tools an such, an sumtimes he even stands in his garage an look at his car fur a really long time. Ah figure he must really know bout cars since he is workin on an fixin his car all the time. Not only that, but he dun be a plumber an everone knows they unnerstand how tools an pipes an stuff wurk, right?

So ah decide to git him to fix mah car an ah left it wit him fur awhile. Ah knew mah friend was gonna take care of me cause he was only chargin me his “special friend rate” of $25 an hour!

After a week or so, ah asked him how thangs were goin. He said thangs were goin fine, but them durned manufacturer’s had changed how the whatchamacallit wurked wit the gizmo an ah needed to go see his friend who wurks in a car shop to git it fixed. So ah paid mah friend fur his time (bout 8 hours) an went to see his friend.

Since this guy was a friend of mah friend, ah went to him to git the whatchamacallit an gizmo wurkin right. An ah could tell right off this feller was a gud one cause he was only gonna charge me his “friend of a friend” rate of $40 an hour!

Well, this har friend of mah friend tried fixin the car for a couple days an he said that mah friend was wrong. He said mah friend didn’t have the right tools fur mah particular car, so he couldn’t really know whut was wrong.

He said the whatchamacallit was wurkin jus fine wit the gizmo. It was the widget that wouldn’t wurk with the gizmo. But this guy said he didn’t have the tools it took to wurk wit widgets, so ah should go to the dealership an have them fix it, cause they were the only ones who dun had the tools to wurk on widgets (them thievin dealership folk!). So ah paid mah friend of my friend fur his time (about 6 hours) an went to see them folk at the dealership.

Man alive! Did they ever rip me off! Those crooks dun not only told me that there ain’t no such things on cars as a “whatchamacallit”, “widget”, or a “gizmo”, but they had the nerve to tell me all it took was one hour of their tech’s time an a 25 cent fuse to fix the problem! Can you believe they dun charged me $125 an hour jus to fix a fuse?!?

Can you believe that?!? They dun thunk ah’m gullible enough to buy thar story! Ah’m sure they dun programmed in sum kinda failure into the fancy computer system all cars seem to have now AN ah’m sure they’re gonna stick it to me the next time ah have a problem!

Like ah’m STOOPID enough to fall for that! Ah know one thang fur sure, when my car breaks down next time, ah’m gonna take it to mah friend cause ah KNOW ah can TRUST HIM!

Y’see, y’all probly know sumone jus like that feller above. They’all dun be sure they know the truth an everone else dun be wrong as a broken clock! If’n y’all be payin attention, that feller paid $200 to his friend, $240 to his friend’s friend, and only $125.25 to “them thievin dealership folk”. An who dun fixed his car?

BUT, we dun be enjoying wunnerful stuff like the InterTubes, modern medicine, cars that get gas mileage an power that was unthunkable even 20 years ago, compooters, SMART phones, an all kinds of other stuff. All cause of science, scientists, an researchers an such like folk.

Ah can tell you one thang, an this is frum experience, if’n ah have to have knee surgery, ah’m gonna go to an orthopedic surgeon an preferably one that specializes in knees! Ah’m NOT gonna go to a brain surgeon or a radiologist or a veterinarian (no matter what stuff they specialize in) or even a machinist, much less some moron who dun be pontificatin on a street corner bout how good healthcare is for the rich here in the good ol USofA.

Ah’m gonna use the best specialist ah can find to help me wit whatever problem ah might have. An ah suggest you do the same. Y’all likely both be happier wit the results an live longer!

Anyhoo, this dun be the end of mah rant against those folk who thunk that it be better to ask some moron on an InterTube “street corner” than an expert on the topic.
