Well, we’all dun be on the 3rd day after Lection Day an “all of a sudden” all these durned votes be “appearin outta thin air”.  Pres Trump dun warned us bout them thievin Democrat folk an theys sneaky tricks!  It’s like he’s bin in charge of this har guvmint an he ain’t bin able to stop em frum cheatin.  DEEP STATE!  (That last one was actually a Tweet frum the Twit in Chief, Pres Trump…)

Good Lord, it sounds like the plot of a really bad movie.  (Hmm, maybe ah can write me a movie an make me a fortune!)

Anyhoo, how coulda this happen?  On Lection Night, Pres Trump seemed to be ahead an he even declared hisself the winner!  Well, to find out whut dun be happenin we’all’re gonna haveta look at whut was dun an said leadin up to Lection Day.

Whut Did Pres Trump an VP Biden Haveta Say Bout How to Vote?

Fur the last couple months, Pres Trump dun bin sayin that mail-in votin be “fraudulent” an “unreliable” an even “dangerous”.  An his MAGA followers dun listened to him an, mostly, decided to vote in person, mostly on Lection Day!  Since only 5 states have mail-in only votin (Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, an Washington (state, not DC)), almost all them other states have sum combination of Mail-In (also known as Absentee votin), Early, an Lection Day votin.

Cuz whut Pres Trump dun said, most of his followers dun voted either early (sum of em) or on Lection Day (most of em), wit a few (relatively speakin) votin wit Mail-In/Absentee ballots (like in Florida, whar Pres Trump said it was OK to vote that way).

On the other hand, VP Biden an the Democratic Party folk were really worried bout this whole pandemic thang an told their folk to vote usin Mail-In/Absentee ballots (most of em) or go to Early votin locations (sum of em), where they dun figured there’d be fewer folk BEFORE Lection Day than ON Lection Day.  Now mosta them Democratic folk’re worried bout gittin sick an voted by Mail or Early votin to be safer.  Even so, a lot of them Democratic folk still voted on Lection Day too.

Y’see, Pres Trump didn’t seem to much care if’n his supporters got COVID-19 an died cuz they voted in person, so long as they showed up at the polls.  On the other hand (dang, ah’m runnin outta hands!), since MOST Democratic folk live in high population areas, they’all dun had a bigger worry bout gittin sick than Republican folk, who dun MOSTLY live in lower population areas (bigger population means more crowded votin an more of a chance to git COVID-19).

Whut Does This Have to do With How Them Votes be Counted?

Now y’all need to unnerstand that they’s a big differnce between how quickly votes be counted if’n they be Mail-In, Early, or Lection Day… an it changes by state!

The furst votes that dun be most quickly counted’re them that be cast on Lection Day.  They dun be right thar whar the countin be dun furst.  Makes sense, right?

Most states that’ve Early votin, have laws that dun say them votes that’re cast early can’t be counted before Lection Day!  That dun mean they won’t be counted til the polls close, usually, round 7pm or later!  Sumtimes they even haveta wait til the votes cast on Lection Day’re counted!  Them Early votin locations saw mostly even votin tween Pres Trump an VP Biden voters, wit, maybe, a bit of an edge to VP Biden.

THEN, the Mail-In/Absentee (an “provisional”) ballots’ll be counted.  Which dun mean that most of the Lection Day an Early ballots’ll already be counted befur any of these har Mail-in/Absentee ballot’ll be counted!  An like most of them Lection Day votes were mostly Pres Trump supporters, most of these Mail-In/Absentee ballot dun be fur VP Biden.

An don’t furgit that it takes longer to count them Mail-In/Absentee ballots cuz it dun haveta be confirmed they be dun right.

It makes sense, right?

Pres Trump said don’t trust Mail-In ballots an wait til Lection Day to cast y’alls vote.  If’n y’all’re at all worried, then cast y’alls votes in person, Early.  BUT cast them votes in person!

VP Biden said, be safe an cast y’alls vote by Mail-In/Absentee if’n y’all can OR go vote Early, when there’ll probly be fewer folk an y’all be less likely to git sick.  BUT git out an vote any way y’all can!

Purty much, they two candidates took jus bout opposite views on how to vote an so did theys voters!

How Does This Info Compare to Whut We Dun Be Seein?

So, whut does that mean fur us when we’all see the Lection results come in on the TeeVee?

Well, since most of Pres Trump’s voters dun voted on Lection Day, compared to VP Biden’s voters, most of them Lection Day votes’re probly gonna be fur Pres Trump.  Which is whut we dun saw early on Lection Day, right after the polls closed an districts/states started reportin the votes.

Then as Lection Night progressed, we dun saw that gap gittin narrower as the Early votes were bein counted.  Since VP Biden had encouraged his folk more to do Early votin than Pres Trump, a bit more votes started to come in fur VP Biden an the gap started to close.

Now, of course, bout this time Pres Trump dun declared hisself the winner, even though the vote countin weren’t no where near close to bein dun!  AN he dun said that all vote countin shud be stopped so them “fake ballots” won’t cheat him outta the Presidency.  Ah don’t know bout you, but this don’t sound like a President that dun be sure he got the votes he needs to win!

ALL LEGAL VOTES SHUD BE COUNTED!  Period!

An fur bout the last 3 days, the rest of the Early votes an then the Mail-In/Absentee votes have bin bein counted.  Now y’all need to remember that each state has its own rules bout when a Mail-In/Absentee vote has to be sent an when it has to be received to be considered a “legal” vote.  (Note:  An this har be whut Pres Trump be filin mosta his lawsuits bout!)

1. The Lection Day votes were mostly fur Pres Trump cuz mosta his voters voted on Lection Day or Early votin.
2. The votes that started to be counted later that night an into the next day were bout evenly split fur Pres Trump an VP Biden, wit a bit of an edge fur VP Biden, mostly cuz how the two men dun splained to they voters how they shud vote!
3. The votes over the last two days have bin mostly fur VP Biden cuz they be mostly Mail-In/Absentee ballots an most of VP Biden’s voters voted that way.

But they dun be one more thang that splains why the votes bin happenin the way they has…

Big Cities vs Small Town Vote Countin

Imagin that y’all live in a small town like ah usedta when ah was a youngun.  Ah lived in a town bout 1500 folk.  An them folk mostly knew one another.  You know the type, whar “everone knows everone else”.

It dun be Lection Day an the polls close at bout 7pm.  Now not everone is old enough or registered to vote an, of them folk who can, not everone does.  So bout 500 votes dun be cast that day.  So, the Lection officials dun run they votes through the vote countin machines an by bout 8-9pm they dun have all them votes counted an sent off to the county or state officials who dun report them.

Now imagin y’all live in a pretty big city like ah dun live now.  Thar be bout a half million people livin har.  Of course, not everone is old enough or registered to vote an of those, not everone decides to vote, like in the small town.  So, bout 150,000 folk vote, but since the number of pollin places dun be cut in half over the last 10 years or so, each location has 10,000 or more votes to count.  That takes a long time to count that many votes, specially when they also don’t have as many vote counters either, compared to the small town.

So, knowin whut ah dun splained bout above, which of them votes do you think’re gonna be reported furst?  The small town or the big city?  If’n y’all guessed that the small town probly is gonna report their votes furst, ah suspect y’all’d be right!

As we’ve dun seen over the last few Lections, smaller, more rural places tend to vote Republican party an bigger, more urban/big city places tend to vote Democratic party.

Cuz of this, the smaller, more rural, and Republican leanin places’re more likely to report they results furst an the larger, more urban, Democratic leanin places’re more likely to take longer to report their results… sumtimes days longer.  An that is exactly whut we dun be seein happen right now.

The Bottom Line

As ah suggested on Nov 1 in mah article, Knowin the Results of the Lection on Lection Day? we dun gonna haveta wait til the results of this har Lection dun be finalized.  Ah say, “finalized” cuz “it ain’t over til the fat lady sings”.

That don’t mean that thar’s a buncha cheatin that be goin on, cuz ah don’t thunk thar is.  It jus means that thar be a whole buncha votes that gotta be counted an that takes time… specially when thar dun gonna be at least one statewide recount like thar probly will be in Georgia.
