It’s Bin a Couple Weeks, How’s Pres Trump’s Lawsuits Goin?

Hi Ranty Nation!  Ranty McRantyson har agin!

Well, it’s bin a couple weeks since the election an ah thunk it dun be time to take a look at the blizzard of lawsuits that Pres Trump has bin filin to change the election results (Electoral votes by candidate: Biden – 306, Trump – 232).  Probly the best way is to look at each lawsuit an whut the results of those lawsuits have bin.

In case y’all don’t wanna read all this legalizin, then y’all can check out this har ~30 min video whut be dun by a real life lawyer who do a purty durned gud job summarizin the lawsuits:

So whadaya say we’all git to the lawsuits (by state)?

Pennsylvania

  1. Lawsuit to STOP countin votes:  Dismissed.  They ain’t no further infurmation.  Apparently the judge thunk it be ridiculous to ask to stop countin votes when so many still to be counted.  (Lost)
  2. Lawsuit to LET closer lookin at countin:  Won at state court level, Lost at State Supreme Court level.  The State Supreme Court says they’s observation laws dun be gud nuff (probly cuz them laws bin fine befur).  (Won, then Lost)
  3. Lawsuit to NOT LET folk who voted befur election day to fix they’s ballot after Nov 9:  Won.  The courts ruled that the Pennsylvania Secretary of State’s allowin folk to come in as late as the Nov 12, rather than Nov 9, like the law dun say, was wrong.  These votes had already bin set to the side an hadn’t bin counted yet.  A separate lawsuit by State Republicans claimin that the Pennsylvania Sec of State had, “… subverted state law when she issued guidance telling voters with deficiencies on their mail-in ballots to cast provisional ballots, and trying to prevent those provisional ballots from being counted.”  This lawsuit was Denied(Won and Lost)
  4. Lawsuit to make the Montgomery County Board of Lections STOP countin certain Mail-In ballots (witout they’s “secrecy envelop”).  The judge Denied the request.  Pres Trump’s legal team said, “… they were not accusing the county administrators or the voters casting these ballots of voter fraud.”  Witout voter fraud allegations thar weren’t no reason to not count them valid votes.  (Lost)
  5. Lawsuit to STOP countin ballots that come in after 8pm on Lection Day (even Mail-In/Absentee ballots!).  This har lawsuit is still goin on cuz it is goin to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).  But most legalizin folk don’t thunk that the SCOTUS will hear the case cuz (1) it won’t change the results in Pennsylvania (Biden leads by over 80,000 votes an this only concerns about 10,000 ballots) an (2) this lawsuit is based on Pennsylvania law an the Pennsylvania Supreme Court already said they’s can count ballots received until Nov 6, an (3) the SCOTUS probly won’t want to git involved wit a case this “politically charged” (in other wurds, it might dun be seen as bein too political witin the SCOTUS fur they’s reputation as bein “unbiased”/”justice is blind”).  (Ongoin)
  6. Lawsuit to STOP the Pennsylvania Sec of State and 7 pro-Biden counties frum certifyin they’s election results.  This lawsuit is still goin on cuz the court is still hearin “arguments” (the filin of papers an allowin both sides to say they’s points).  Pres Trump’s lawyers’re claimin that allowin Mail-In/Absentee ballots is, sumhow, creatin a “two-tiered” votin system, an that dun be a violation of the “equal protection” clause of the US Constitution.  But that jus don’t make no sense cuz the equal protection clause of the Constitution is supposed to prevent one group from havin rights another don’t.  An BOTH Republicans AN Democrats can use Mail-In/Absentee ballots.  Most legal expert folk don’t thunk they’s much of a chance of this’n bein successful.  (Ongoin)
  7. Lawsuit to STOP Bucks County frum countin any Mail-In/Absentee ballots.  Bucks County is near Philadelphia an they dun voted fur Pres Elect Biden over Pres Trump by jus a little bit.  This lawsuit was Dismissed(Lost)
  8. Lawsuit cuz Pres Trump’s lawyers submitted another lawsuit bout Bucks County sayin that thar were 2,200 defective ballots.  So far as ah know, this har lawsuit is still goin on(Ongoin)

Ah have to note that since ah started writin this talk, the state of Pennsylvania has certified that Pres Elect Joe Biden has won Pennsylvania.

Nevada

  1. Lawsuit to STOP usin automated signature verification machines fur verifyin folks signatures… but only in Clark County, the largest an most pro-Biden county in Nevada.  This lawsuit dun be rejected by the federal judge cuz Pres Trump’s lawyers didn’t provide no evidence (proof) that anythin illegal-like was bein dun.  Pres Trump’s lawyers claimed they thunk thar was “lax procedures for authenticating mail ballots” (they wasn’t bein careful nuff) an cuz that over 3,000 “ineligible individuals” (folk that weren’t qualified to vote) dun voted.  Funny thang was that they only “evidence” was one claim that sumone, wit the same name, had cast a Mail-In ballot an the person who showed up to vote on Lection Day had already voted.  Course Pres Trump asked his followers to do exactly that… send in a Mail-In ballot an then show up on Lection Day to vote to see if the system wud let em.  The Nevada Attorney General said such a thang was, “absurd” (in other wurds, “crazy talk”).  (Lost)
  2. Lawsuit to ALLOW folk to be CLOSER to oversee the Clark County (largest most pro-Biden county) vote countin buildin.  This lawsuit dun also be rejected by the judge cuz he said Pres Trump’s lawyers didn’t have no “standin” (qualify fur legally filin a lawsuit bout Clark County) AN they’s didn’t have no evidence… agin.  BUT befur an appeal to the State Supreme Court cud be heard thar, the Trump campaign an Nevada State Republicans reached a settlement to allow folk to be closer when lookin at the countin.  The campaign dismissed the lawsuit.  So far as ah know, they’s still haven’t found no evidence of any wrong doin in Clark County.  (Lost, then Settled/Dismissed)

Michigan

  1. Lawsuit to STOP the countin of ALL absentee ballots.  All of em!  Cuz they wasn’t let to look at them doin the countin.  The judge dismissed the case sayin they’all dun filed it too late (the countin was already dun), they’s was suin the wrong person (Michigan Secretary of State) when the problem was wit local countin boards that the Sec of State didn’t have direct control over, an they’s primary evidence of “wrong doin” was heresay.  In other wurds, they bungled the case frum the git-go.  (Lost)
  2. Lawsuit to HALT the certifyin of the lection results in Detroit, Michigan (the largest city an a Democratic “stronghold”)… only.  The Trump allied Election Integrity Fund said they weren’t no proper inspectin of the votes.  This lawsuit was denied cuz of lack of evidence… agin.  Whut the legalizin folk call an “unsubstantiated allegation”, whut means sayin sumthin witout proof.  (Lost)
  3. Lawsuit to HALT the (state) certifyin of the lection results in Michigan.  They’s lawyers’re sayin the Michigan lection folk dun, “allowed fraud and incompetence to corrupt the conduct of the 2020 general election.”  The campaign’s sayin they’s have “over a hundred” of affidavits (writtin sworn testimony) sayin that Trump’s folk’re treated badly cuz they was sposed to stay witin 6 feet of lection officials… jus like the Biden folk.  But they’s affidavits don’t say nuthin bout “fraud”, “incompetence”, or “corrupt(ion)”.  This lawsuit be still goin on(Ongoin)

Ah have to note that since ah started writin this talk, the state of Michigan has dun certified that Pres Elect Joe Biden has won Michigan.

Georgia

  1. Lawsuit to DISQUALIFY bout 53 ballots.  They’s lawyers says a poll watcher says they saw sum ballots that may have arrived after Nov 3.  The county officials (plural) says them ballots dun arrived on time.  The judge rejected the lawsuit cuz they’s weren’t no evidence them ballots’re brought in after 7pm on lection day.  (Lost)
  2. (Re-)Recount of all ballots in Georgia.  Ok, this ain’t, technical-like a “lawsuit” (an ah won’t count it as one), but this be bout as ridiculous as sum of these har lawsuits.  The Trump campaign is payin fur a (nuther) count of ALL the ballots in Georgia.  This har dun be the third time they bin counted.  The ballots’re counted, mostly by machine, on, an jus after, lection day an Biden won.  Since the race was won by less than 0.5%, Georgia law dun say they has to do a recount/audit of ALL ballots (the audit is to make shure them ballots’re all legit-like) an Biden won agin.  Now the Trump campaign dun be payin fur them ballots to be counted agin, by machine.  Ah guess Pres Trump must be doin this so he can lose a third time? (Lost, Lost, Ongoin)

Arizona

  1. Lawsuit to GIT ALL BALLOTS COUNTED by a bunch of voters represented by a conservative legal fund on Nov 4 (day after Lection Day).  They dropped the case, but didn’t say why on Nov 7.  (Lost)
  2. Lawsuit to GIT ALL BALLOTS COUNTED (cuz they was down, but the gap dun be closin?), filed on Nov 7.  In a change of pace (probly cuz they dun be behind), the Trump campaign an the RNC dun file a lawsuit to git all ballots counted.  Y’see, they was a rumor goin round that ballots weren’t bein counted if’n they, basically, weren’t “perfect”.  Ah guess that the Trump lawyers figured Trump’s supporters couldn’t mark they’s ballot right?  After lookin into it, the Trump lawyers dropped the case cuz of its “mootness”.  Now ah gotta admit that dun be the most redneckedness legal talk ah ever dun herd!  What “mootness” dun mean is “it won’t make no differnce”.  (Lost)

The Bottom Line

This har only be bout 20 or so of the 35+ that dun bin filed by Pres Trump’s legal team an a few other folk.  They’s only won two an they’re so minor they basically don’t count.  There still be bout 5-10 still bouncin round the courts an they don’t look that gud neither.

So har’s a “scorecard” on how Pres Trump an company’s lawsuits’re goin:

Won: 2
Lost:  20+
Ongoin: 5-10

That means he dun be only winnin bout 1 outta 10 lawsuits!  That’s 10% an ah’d imagine that number’ll git wurse as the rest of the lawsuits wurk they’s way thru the court system.

So whar do ah thunk Pres Trump go frum har?

“Plan A” look like it be basically, Pres Trump bein desperate-like tryin to git one of them cases to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) so them 3 folk he got on the court an the other conservative justices can jus say he be the President agin.

“Plan B” look like Pres Trump still tryin to git sum of the Republican State Legislatures to send sum “faithless Electors” to the Electoral College an cast they’s ballot fur him even tho the state voted fur Pres Elect Biden!

Ah jus found out las night that Republicans in the Pennsylvania State Legislature are actually procedin wit an attempt to replace the certified State Lectors wit Lectors that’ll vote fur Pres Trump as the winner in Pennsylvania!  The only positive thing is that Pennsylvania law apparently dun say that only the Pennsylvania Governor can appoint the Pennsylvania Lectors!  But them Republican congresscritters dun be tryin a “Plan B” in Pennsylvania!

“Plan C”…  Well, ok, ah don’t know exactly whut Pres Trump’s “Plan C” cud be… other than a full-on coup.  Ah havta admit ah find it ironic-like that after all them years of Republicans saying Obama was gonna try a coup to stay in office (which he didn’t), that it gonna not only be a Republican President who might, but that jus bout the entire Republican Senate gonna say it dun be OK.

On this har front, Pres Trump fired his Secretary of Defense an some other folk in the Defense Department right after the lection was called fur Pres Elect Biden.  On Saturday (11/29/2020), he dun fired 11 folk off the Defense Policy Board.  It’s too early to tell, but ah’m thunkin that the folk Pres Trump dun fired ain’t the best folk to fire if’n y’all were tryin to start a military coup, but messin so much wit the Defense of our country on your way out ain’t exactly comfortin…

Anyhoo, that’s whut’s goin on right now.  Hope it dun clear up sum of the confusion bout the legal wranglin goin on!
